Here’s something we believe at Swords Stables:
The old stories are still alive.
Not because we’re supposed to study them, but because thousands of years later, they’re still asking remarkably good questions.
What makes us lose our way?
What do we do with longing?
Who are we after the journey changes us?
And what does it actually mean to come home?
For one day, we’re putting The Odyssey in a room with a group of very modern humans to find out. We’ll read selected passages aloud. We’ll talk about what catches us, surprises us, makes us laugh, or feels unnervingly familiar.
And then we’ll write.
Not about The Odyssey, but through it.
The myth becomes a doorway into your own memories, characters, questions, ideas, and stories.
We’ll spend the morning with one section of the myth, followed by conversation, a 45-minute writing session, and time to share what emerged.
In the afternoon, we’ll return to the story: a new passage, a new conversation, and another 45 uninterrupted minutes to write before gathering one last time to read, listen, and see where everyone went. Same ancient story. Completely different journeys.
You don’t need to know the myth.
And you don’t need to call yourself a writer.
Come with a novel in progress, a journal, a half-formed idea, or absolutely nothing. Come because you love mythology. Come because you’re curious. Come because you’re craving more creativity, conversation, connection — or simply a day spent thinking about something that actually interests you.
Part myth.
Part writing.
Part salon.
One really good day.
