Step out of ordinary time for an hour and into a three-thousand-year-old poem.

On September 13, we’re heading into Homer’s Odyssey and making a stop on the strange, dreamy shores of the Lotus Eaters, where Odysseus’s men eat the lotus and suddenly forget the thing they have spent years trying to do: go home.

WHY ?

What makes us lose the thread of where we were going? What happens when we forget what we thought we wanted? And what might an ancient story have to teach us about the things we forget now?

We’ll gather online for an hour, enter the story, read a little Homer together, follow whatever comes forward through a short writing invitation, and talk about what we find before returning to our Sundays, perhaps carrying a question or two we didn’t arrive with.

No mythology expertise required. No homework. Just bring yourself, your favorite pen or pencil, and a willingness to get a little lost along the way.
