WRITING THROUGH MYTH
Writing Class
A six-week writing series for writers of all forms: fiction, memoir, poetry, screenwriting, essays, hybrid work. And for anyone who wants to enter their personal or creative work through the ancient language of myth.
Each series centers on one mythic text and follows its characters, symbols, thresholds, and transformations over time. This might include The Hymn to Demeter, The Descent of Inanna, chapters of The Odyssey, Australian Dreamtime stories, or a journey into the forests of the Brothers Grimm.
Rather than using these stories as decoration or reference, we enter them as living doorways into memory, imagination, character, desire, conflict, grief, longing, power, return, and renewal.
Through storytelling, close reading, guided writing prompts, and shared reflection, participants explore how mythic patterns are already moving through their own lives and creative work. Together, we follow the thread into the labyrinth of the imagination, trusting that what first appears to belong to the myth may ultimately reveal something about ourselves.
No prior knowledge of mythology or writing is required. Only curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to follow the thread.
